Marianne Ostrat, the producer of „Smoke Sauna Sisterhood”, co-produced the youth film „Wet Monday” that is directed by Justyna Mytnik and that tells a magical story of teenage-hood, repressed trauma and the healing power of empathy.
Teenager Klara and her friends are eagerly awaiting Easter and a wild water fight that celebrates the arrival of spring. For Klara, however, the fun holiday marks a year since a painful experience. When Klara, tormented by shame, suddenly starts having nightmares and develops a strange fear of water, she and her new friend Diana set out to heal her repressed trauma.
Erki Pärnoja composed the original score for the film and its theme song „Horizon” is performed by Anna Kaneeliina.
World premiere of the movie was at the main competition programme of the 49. Polish Film Festival and international confederation of arthouse cinemas CICAE honored it with the award for the best first feature. „Wet Monday” won the Best Youth Film award at the 33. Cottbus Film Festival in Germany. Estonian premiere of „Wet Monday” was at the Youth and Children’s Film Festival (Just Film) 2024.
Film is preceded by Madli Lääne’s awarded short film „Jungle Law”.
